Typical constructions

Construct a line (to explain the principle)
Click at the menu "File"
and select "CAD/CAM - New drawing".
A drawing area appears and a crosshair, which can be moved by the mouse. It will engage in certain distances (catch).
As in mathematics, the area is defined by a coordinate system: In the left bottom you have the coordinate zeropoint, the X-axis goes to the right , theY-axis goes up.

A point can be described in two ways:
1) by its distance to the zeropoint in X- and Y-direction (cartesian)
2) by its angle and the length of line to the zeropoint (polar)

Click at "LINE" In the ICON-bar on the left of the drawing field. Now the computer needs of course the starting and the final point of the line to construct. This is what it tells you in the status bar right on the bottom. First you are told "Choose starting point": move the crosshair with your mouse at any place in the area and click. Then you are told "Choose the final point": move your mouse to another spot and click again, the line is drawn. Of course it is also necessary to be able to set a point precisely. Instead of clicking a point, you can activate the window "Coordinates" (cartesian or polar, absolute or relative), there you can enter a point digitally, exact to 0,01 mm and edit the input.

Make construction drawings
Technical drawing is no problem with nccad. Functions like type of line, measurements, inscriptions, etc. are integrated. By the way, nccad puts all drawing elements which are sure not to be milled (measures, inscription, helplines, etc.) automatically into a special layer (layer 9); this saves you a lot of trouble and work.

Constructing engraving texts for signs
With the texteditor integrated in nccad you can make texts and position them inside a textframe (left, right, centre horizontal a. vertical). The fonts you can use are True-Type fonts, for example, installed under Windows. With the help of technology parameters, the outlines of the fonts are either milled outside (Outline, as in the picture) or they are emptied out. The technology-function "Contour correction" is of special importance in that case.

Constructing curves
In nccad there is a number of curve functions available under "CAD special":
Spline (interpolating, approximating), freehand-curves and a mathematial functions generator constructing the curve after input of a formula
(a Sinus-curve in the picture Y = sin X ).

Special help for editing
With these Icons you can copy, shift, rotate, mirror, arrange in circles, round, chamfer - or simply delete - one or more drawing elements. When you move your mouse on one of the ICONs, there will be an explaining ToolTip-text.

Special help for constructing
In the ICON-group "CAD Special" you will find some helpful and often wanted functions, as for instance "hatch". They make it easy to get a fast result.

Special help for constructing: gears
According to basic rules for constructing gears with involute gear you enter the data, and nccad does the constructing.
Afterwards you simply have to input the technology parameters for machining.

Printed circuit board in milling method
Borings and conducting connections are drawn,
nccad makes pads around points and outlines parallel to conducting connections. When pads and paths are connected, there will automatically be an island (see green track), which can be milled out of the copper surface.
