Programming and controlling CNC-machining

These specifications are valid for all versions since 1991

General information
The program nccad has, first of all, been generated for working together with our coordinate system KOSY. If you want to do automatic work with such a machine you must make a program which will describe the sequence of work.
In nccad there are 3 different methods of programming the work process:

  • The Teach-in method: You fix a finished workpiece model or a sketch on the table and go by hand control to one corner point after the other so they can be "taught in" by pressing a button.
  • Write a CNC-Program after DIN/ISO 66025 (The language of all CNC-machines worldwide) with a text editor. By the help of the text editor, integrated in nccad, so-called CNC-Code phrases are written and edited, f.e.: G00 X100 Y200 Z10. The extent of commands depends on the technical options of our CNC-machine.
  • The CAD/CAM-method, the direct way from drawing to machining. You will find a more precise explanation under nccad/slide show. This is the easiest and best way of programming, you do the following steps: a.) Draw the contours by the help of CAD module in nccad or import a drawing from another CAD-program b.) CAM = Enter and edit the machining (technology) parameters (how deep, how fast,etc.) c.) Valid it by graphic simulation d.) Adjust and prepare the CNC machine by hand-control. e.) Automatic working after the internal control list as in a CNC-program.

The following series of pictures shall demonstrate how to work with nccad and how to handle the program "from the idea to the workpiece":

Choice of way of programming

After the start of the program you can choose between both ways of programming the CNC-Machine: CNC or CAD (to generate either a new program or to load an existing one).

CNC-Programming

If you have decided in favor of CNC, you can enter and edit a CNC-program according to DIN/ISO 66025. A standard text editor is available (to be used like any text editor, but not ready for writing letters).

Draw the milling contour

If you have decided in favor of CAD, there will appear a drawing area of the size of the working area (Y-table of the CNC-machine).With the help of a reticle or by input of the coordinates (cartesian or polar, absolute or relative) you construct the geometric figure that is to be milled later.

Enter the machining data (Technology)

The CAM-part of nccad helps you with selecting, entering and editing the machining data. You decide how fast, how deep, with or without track correction or in which strategy, etc. you want to machine the piece.You can control the settings by starting a graphical simulation on the screen.

Prepare the machine and the workpiece

Clamp in the tool and the workpiece, set and teach-in the workpiece zeropoint. These are the most important actions. You can save up to 20 different workpiece zeropoints.

Machining with the CNC-Machine

The CNC-part of nccad makes the machining run automatically. You can interrupt and continue the program any time. You get feedback if necessary
